Greetings to all! My name is Amanda Riley. Though I am a native of Connellsville, Pennsylvania (a small town in the Appalachian foothills of Southwestern PA), I have been in South Carolina for 9 years. I love it here, and though I may only be HALF Southern by birth…I am permanently Southern by choice!
I obtained my Bachelor of Arts in History and Sociology from Seton Hill College in 2001, and then my Master of Teaching in Secondary Social Studies Education from Coastal Carolina University in 2007. I completed my gifted and talented endorsement from College of Charleston and received A.P. certification in World History from Clemson University. I have always wanted to be a teacher, and have always found ways to teach in the past; from younger cousins as a child, to more recently riding lessons!
This year I will be teaching, Global Studies II and A.P. World History, and I am co-sponsoring the Drama Club with Mr. Noll. We are pleased to welcome Mr. Shoemaker as an assistant sponsor. I have also taken on the job of Colorguard Co-Ordinator for the Warrior Marching Band and am eager to be a part of their great traditions.
When not up to my ears in school (when is that exactly?) I enjoy playing with the Pawleys Island Community Band, escaping to New York for theatre, and doing landscape photography. I also love to camp, read, cheer on my hometown Pittsburgh Penguins, and ride and show American Quarter Horses.
